The top ten most stolen cars in uk

thieves prefer BMW X5

Stolen car recovery company Tracker has revealed the most stolen cars of 2010, with the BMW X5 SUV topping the list for joy riders.
It's the second year in a row that BMW's 4x4 has headed the poll. In fact, the top four of 2010 is exactly as per the top four in 2009, with the Range Rover, BMW M3 and Audi RS4 taking second, third and fourth respectively.
However, despite the high price of those models, Tracker says that only six percent of the cars it recovered in 2010 were worth £50,000-£100,000.
More than six in ten cars recovered were worth £25,000 or less; the Volkswagen Golf is a new entry into the top ten this year, which is (by some margin) the car with the lowest average price in the list.
The lowest value car Tracker recovered in 2010 was a Ford Sierra worth £1,000, while the most expensive was a £130,000 Bentley Continental GTC.
Stephen Doran of Tracker said: “These figures show that all car owners are a target for thieves. And with 84 per cent of all the cars we recovered last year being stolen using the keys, we remind every car owner to keep their keys safe at all times.”
The top ten most stolen cars in 2010 are as follows:
1. BMW X5
2. Range Rover
3. BMW M3
4. Audi RS4
5. Audi TT
6. Mercedes-Benz SL
7. Mercedes-Benz CLK
8. Porsche 911
9. Volkswagen Golf
10. Mercedes-Benz ML
